Climate pact furniture industry

Introduction

All over the world, people are talking about urgently needed climate protection measures; this is the defining task of our time! The willingness and necessary commitment to our environment and nature meets with great approval among the population with the aim of taking responsibility for our next generation and for all fellow human beings. The urgent reduction of emissions is essential and depends on the voluntary and consistent action of the economy in the industrialised countries.

A great deal of importance is already attached to products and services that are more environmentally friendly than comparable non-quality-assured ones because they fulfil their high quality and sustainability criteria. This is based on the foundation and willingness to save CO₂ emissions, to neutralise CO₂ emissions and thus to contribute to a future worth living.

Climate pact participant

In 2016, the DGM founded the "Climate Pact for the Furniture Industry".

Our project to make a contribution to climate protection was developed in cooperation with Professor Dr. Dr. Franz Josef Radermacher on the occasion of the 21st UN Climate Conference in Paris.

As a direct response to the massive impact on people and nature and the rapidly advancing climate change, the German Furniture Quality Association (DGM) founded the "Climate Pact for the Furniture Industry" as a certification body for furniture under the motto "Rebellion against Climate Change" in order to make an important contribution to the UN's 1.5 degree target.

Background to the DGM Climate Pact

Together with the German Furniture Quality Association (DGM) and the Society for Climate Protection for the Wood Industry - GKH GmbH, the Climate Pact lays the foundation for a climate-neutral industry.

We offer companies from the industry concepts for sustainability and climate protection and thus want to make the entire industry sector fit for the future.
