RAL
Historie
The German private sector and the German government of the time founded the Reichs-Ausschuss für Lieferbedingungen (RAL) in 1925 as a joint initiative. The common goal was the standardisation and specification of technical delivery conditions. For this purpose, defined quality requirements and their control were needed - the system of quality assurance came into being. For its implementation, the creation of a neutral institution as a self-governing body of all those involved in the market was necessary. This was the birth of RAL. Since then, RAL has been responsible for the creation of quality marks.
RAL today
RAL acts as an independent service provider with its areas of activity. RAL is recognised as a non-profit institution and has the legal form of a registered association. Its organs are the presidium, the board of trustees, the general meeting and the management.
As an expression of its independence and neutrality of interests, the guidelines for RAL activities are determined by the Board of Trustees, which is made up of representatives of the leading organisations of business, consumers, agriculture, federal ministries and other federal organisations. They have a permanent seat and vote in this body, to which four quality associations continue to be elected by the general meeting as representatives of the RAL members.
